WINES
Clendenen Family Vineyards Pinot Gris 2020, Santa Maria, California
Varietal: Pinot Gris Alc.13.5%
Jim Clendenen had already collected countless honors and accolades for his Au Bon Climat wines when he created the Clendenen Family Vineyards label in 2000 as a vehicle to bring many of his most artisanal and experimental wines to market. All are produced in very small quantities; many of these wines are crafted from unique varietals grown primarily on his organically farmed Le Bon Climat and Rancho La Cuna Vineyards. The project has expanded to include special plantings at Bien Nacido Vineyard as well. While two of the jewels from this project are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, he also makes benchmark examples of Nebbiolo, Tocai Friulano, Viognier, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, and a Syrah/Viognier blend. The Pinot Gris has stone fruit aromas and a rich, full body with juicy peach and nectarines notes and a spicy ginger note on the finish.
Pairs well with sushi, salads and fresh vegetables, shellfish. $24.99
Fontezoppa Asola 2017, Marche, Italy
Varietal: Maceratino Alc. 14%
Cantine Fontezoppa is a young company in central Italy on the Adriatic coast in the province of Macerata between Civitanova, Marche and very close to Civitanova Alta, an ancient 14th century village. The company, which takes its name from the ancient source of water that gushed out where the rows of vineyards now grow, was born thanks to the acquisition of the land in Civitanova Alta by the Luzi family in the late 1990s. Made from hand-picked Maceratino (or Ribona) grapes, this wine has an intense straw yellow color and strong and complex nose, with aromas of ripe fruit, citrus peel, peach, yellow flowers, united by a deep mineral note and a touch of vanilla. It is balanced and consistent on the palate, with a pleasantly long and fresh finish.
Pairs well with anchovies and other fish, white meat, truffles. $31.99
Salt Wine Company Pinot Noir 2021, Oregon
Varietal: Pinot Noir Alc.14.5%
Salt Wine Company sources fruit from the most prestigious vineyards on the West Coast and works with seasoned, artisanal winemakers. With partners and relationships built over 35 years, they make craft, small-lot, control-brand wines. Salt Wine Pinot Noir is full of aromas of sweet fruits – plum, raspberry, and black cherry, with layers of spice and sweet tobacco. On the palate, a juicy burst of red berries and black currants is framed with a beautiful tannin structure. A lively and complex mid-palate with mineral and spice notes lingers on the finish.
Pairs well with roasted root vegetables, salmon, roasted chicken. $17.99
The Verga family has been producing wine since 1895. These days, the fifth generation of Vergas is making wine in Lombardy, and they have made improvements and innovations in production that have allowed them to expand distribution worldwide. The Natale Verga Intré Rosso is an Italian red blend that hails from three different terroirs, Corvina (Veneto), Sangiovese (Toscana), and Nero d’Avola (Sicilia). It opens with a bouquet of red currants, blackberries, black cherry and a sweet spice of licorice. The flavors travel to a round and warm palate, and while the tannins are present, they lead to a soft, lingering finish.
Pairs well with baked macaroni and cheese, chicken ravioli, or pizza. $ 14.99
Chateau Gigognan Clos du Rois 2016, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, France
Like many great estates, Château Gigognan has a long and storied past. The roots of the vineyards date back to the time of the Romans. The property’s modern history began when Anne and Jacques Callet purchased the Clos du Roi domaine and began restoring the château. All through the 1990s, the Callets worked to rebuild the property and create a better-equipped cellar. In 2009, the winery was certified organic. Jacques Callet passed away in July of 2016, and the property was purchased by Jean-Francois Henin in 2017. A new era began, and even greater restoration has taken place. A whole new production facility has been added, and winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt is establishing the winery as one of the most exciting in the region. The Clos du Roi is primarily one large parcel with just a few tiny satellite parcels. The 2016 Clos du Rois wine pours a vivid ruby. Highly perfumed red fruit scents are complicated by suggestions of licorice and white pepper. Spicy and focused on the palate, the wine displays vibrant raspberry, bitter cherry, and floral flavors along with a smoky nuance. It finishes with resonating spiciness and chewy tannins.
Pairs well with mushrooms, barbecued beef, Osso Buco. $49.99
Bovio Barolo 2018, Piedmont, Italy
Varietal: Nebbiolo Alc.: 14.5%
Bovio is a small wine cellar located at the heart of the Barolo growing area. It is run by the third generation of wine producers in the Bovio family. Gianfranco Bovio began to look after his father Alessandro’s holdings in the 1970s, renovating the old cellars and dedicating himself to the making of wines grown on the estate vineyards that stretch out over 8.5 hectares.
Now daughter Alessandra and her husband, Marco Boschiazzo, continue the family tradition with winemaker Matteo Franchi. The company philosophy is embedded in tradition and terroir, from the scrupulous tending of the vineyards through the ageing of the wines in large oak casks. The Bovio 2018 Barolo (with fruit from La Morra and Castiglione Falletto) delivers a very bright and lifted bouquet with cassis, wild fruit and hints of dried apricot or apple skin. On the palate, ripe berries and spicy notes combine with the lightly firm tannins to give a plump, velvety texture. There is a chocolate-cherry, almost liqueur-like note on the finish.
Pairs well with blue cheese, roast duck, prime rib. $54.99
And don’t forget to check out what’s new in our beer case. We just got in a new shipment of Maine Beer, with the IPA’s “Lunch” and “Little Whale Boat” leading the charge. We have a rich brown ale called “Brown Dog” and the wonderfully dark but slightly hoppy Robust Porter, both from Smuttynose.

JOIN US FOR A COMPLIMENTARY WINE TASTING WITH CASEY GRUTTADAURIA OF IDEAL WINES
Ideal is an importer and distributor of fine wine and spirits based in Medford, Massachusetts. The company’s roots go back to 1905, when Samuel Bender and two partners founded a retail wine and provisions store in Boston, which evolved in the years after WW II into one of the city’s premiere fine wine shops. It was in the late 1970s that Larry Bender, the third generation of his family in the business, decided to strike out on his own, separating the importing business from his father’s retail operation. His goal was to import wines from small high-quality wineries directly to the Massachusetts market, wines that had previously only come through national importers, if they were imported at all. Most of the wines at that time were French, but the company soon expanded its Italian selections, and has since rounded out the book with some American wineries as well as wines from other countries. Ideal brings us wine with a strong sense of place, made with minimal intervention, at a great price. Casey is one of our favorite wine reps as he is engaging and very educated in these unique, boutique wines. Come out and enjoy them with him as your host!
WINES
La Crotta di Vegneron Müller Thurgau, Valle d’Aoste, Italy
Varietal: Müller Thurgau Alc. 13%
The La Crotta di Vegneron Cooperative was set up in 1980 with 25 partners. Today it numbers 70 partners and produces 200,000 bottles. The cooperative collects the grapes coming from the Chambave Denomination of Origin. The partners’ objective has always been to get the best quality out of their vines and their sloped terraces. La Crotta di Vegneron pursues the ancient tradition of the “campagnards”, whose strength lies in the relationship between autochthonous vines and terroir.
La Crotta di Vegneron’s wines and grappas emanate the spirit of the Aosta Valley mountains, thanks to ancient autochthonous vines (traditional vines cultivated with great skill and pride and which are respectful of the multifaceted terroir). Their cellar is in Chambave, a small hamlet in the Aosta Valley bordering on the west with France and north with Switzerland. The winegrowers who belong to the Cooperative often manage small plots located in a territory where the mechanization of the vineyard is not always possible, and therefore tend to have higher management costs.
Müller Thurgau is a vine obtained from the crossing of Riesling and Sylvaner which is well suited to cool climates. In Valle d’Aosta, it was introduced after 1946; the climate of the region, characterized by sudden changes in temperature especially during the maturation period, favors the formation of the elegant aromas that characterize this wine. This Müller Thurgau has a very fruity nose, with notes of melon, peach, and tropical fruit, along with aromatic herbs and white flowers. On the palate, it is fresh, dry, and full-bodied.
Serve as an aperitif. Pairs well with Italian vegetable soups, white meat, and fresh cheeses. $14.99
Maison des Ardoisieres Cuvée Silice Blanc 2020, Savoie, France
Varietal: Jacquère Alc. 11%
Formed by a group of partners in the late 1990s, Domaine des Ardoisières revitalized their vineyard land at the direction of organic and biodynamic vigneron Michel Grisard. Champagne native Brice Omont joined the team as lead winemaker in 2005 and, since then, their five different wines (three white and two red) have garnered critical acclaim not only within France but worldwide. With demand increasing but supply remaining the same, some of Omont’s wines fetch prices nearing triple digits, which makes “Silice” seem underpriced for the immense drinking pleasure it provides. In the glass, it is a vibrant lemon hue with flecks of silver. With a short 15-minute decant, beautiful aromas of green apple, honeydew, lemon zest, and fresh apricot unfurl from the glass alongside a touch of flinty smoke. On the palate, the wine has a balance of taut minerality and textured roundness, akin to top-notch Chablis. Being Jacquère though, it offers more floral notes with flavors of plum and winter melon. It will gain more texture and complexity in the next two to three years but is ready to drink now.
Pairs well with cheese fondue, vibrant salads, garlic-butter shrimp. $22.99
Chateau de la Liquiére Faugéres, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Varietals:Grenache, Syrah, Carignan Alc.14.5%
Nestled in the midst of the Haut Languedoc national park, the Faugères wine region is unique in that its soils are nothing but schist. La Liquière’s vineyards are located in the highest parts of the appellation. They look out over the Mediterranean, offering a prime site for growing fine wines. Although the soils are all the same type, elevations range from 150 to 350 meters. The warmer soils in the lower part of the appellation area are conducive to growing Mourvèdre, Carignan and Grenache. The cooler, higher sites are the perfect location for Syrah. The entire estate is farmed organically. The vineyards cover 55 hectares. There is little soil, and some vineyards are very steep, resulting in small yields. Faugéres is an intense wine, with red and black berry aromas and flavors and mineral notes, elegant tannins, and a long finish.
Pairs well with lamb, beef fillet, and game birds. $17.99
Domaine Durand Prémices Cornas, Rhone, France
Varietals: Syrah Alc. 14.5%
Domaine Durand is a family-owned estate run by brothers Eric and Joel Durand since 1991. The estate comprises 13 hectares of Syrah vines, eight in Saint-Joseph and five in Cornas. Cornas is one of the most exciting wine regions in the world and is the only red-wine appellation in the northern Rhône that requires its wine to be 100% Syrah. Eric and Joël have painstakingly reconstructed their family’s ancient, terraced vineyards, and continue the back-breaking work of maintaining and rebuilding them every year to prevent erosion. They work their vineyards entirely by hand, coaxing the grapes to optimal ripeness before crafting exceptional wines of depth, precision and persistence. Their lush, rich style is the paradigm for the region, and one of the reasons Cornas is such a sought after and admired wine. The 2019 Cornas Prémices offers all the intensity and power of a great Hermitage, but at a fraction of the price of its flashy neighbor. In the glass, the wine is a deep purple with blue fruit, violets, ground pepper, and charred meat-like aromas and flavors. Rich and full-bodied, it has loads of silky tannins. This Cornas will evolve with age. Best from 2023 through 2035.
Pairs well with roast leg of lamb, grilled beef, spiced red meat. $39.99
Vigneti VumbacaCiró, Calabria, Italy
Varietal: Gaglioppo Alc. 13.5%
The Vigneti Vumbaca company is based in Cirò and extends over an area of about 13 hectares. Organically run, the enterprise is now led by Christian Vumbaca, who, after about fifteen years spent in Rome between university studies and work at a prestigious law firm, decided to return to his native land to follow the company created by mother Silvana and uncle Enzo. His red wine is made from Gaglioppo grapes, grown in tree-trained vineyards, on clay-limestone soil, located in the historic production area of Cirò Classico. It pours a deep ruby red. The nose is complex, full of red fruit, undergrowth, dried flowers, dehydrated fruit, and citrus, Mediterranean scrub, and toasted and sweet spices. It is balanced on the palate, lively, fresh, and quite structured. It finishes on balsamic notes, minerals, cherry, and bitter orange.
Pairs well with aged cheeses, salami, courses with red meat sauces, roast lamb. $19 .99
Cantina del Pino Ovello 2015 Barbaresco,
Varietal: Nebbiolo Alc.: 14.5%
Barbaresco is a small village in Piedmont rising up out of the plain to sit in the Langhe hills. Here they produce a 100% Nebbiolo wine that takes its name from the village. Barbaresco is a wine of power and depth with an ability to age for multiple decades. Often thought of as the feminine version of Barolo, Barbaresco is a dramatically smaller region than its cousin. Barbaresco can only be produced within 1265 acres, and a maximum of 85,000 cases per year can be produced from the more than 500 growers. It is separated into four different communes of which three dominate, Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso. The Vacca family has been living and working the vines at Cantina del Pino, one of the oldest estates in Barbaresco, since the 1920s. Cantina del Pino’s approach to winemaking is rooted in a deep appreciation for the land and gentle processes that allow the particularities of the soil to become tangible in the wines they are making. Deceptive in its light-bodied color, the 2015 Barbaresco Ovello packs a serious punch. Violet, star anise, woodland berry, and camphor aromas lead the way on this elegant, firm red. The savory, linear palate delivers juicy Marasca cherry, pomegranate, licorice and orange zest while taut, fine-grained tannins provide support. It’s focused and balanced, with fresh acidity. It is a structured wine that will develop gradually over the years.
Pairs well with roast meats, game birds, and powerful cheese. $57.99

JOIN US FOR A COMPLIMENTARY WINE TASTING WITH SUSAN RICHARDS, INDEPENDENT WINE CONSULTANT AND REPRESENTATIVE FOR WESTPORT RIVERS WINERY IN WESTPORT, MASSACHUSETTS, (AND NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR SAVOUR STAFF).
Westport Rivers Winery (WPR), on the southeast coast of Massachusetts, is owned and operated by the Russell Family. They have been producing wine since 1986. On 80 acres of farmland near the Westport River, WPR produces approximately 10,000 cases of wine a year, including their signature traditional method sparkling wines, whites, reds, and vermouth.
The newest vintage of Westport’s classic aged sparkling wine has a nose with rich aromas of caramel, candied walnuts, and spiced baked apple, reminiscent of the best aged wines from Champagne. On the palate, rich flavors of spice and apple cider are enhanced by extremely fine bubbles and the dry, crisp texture. It finishes with buttery and nutty notes.
Pairs well with creamy French cheeses and salty potato chips.$
2019 Riesling
Varietal:Riesling Alc. 12%
A classic Riesling with almond, cream and apricots on the nose followed by a pronounced fruit aroma of honeydew, kiwi, and plum along with hints of chamomile and smoke on the outer edges. This is a dry wine with similar notes of fruit and floral flavors on the palate and a long, satisfying finish.
Pairs well with spicy Asian food, omelets, and fruity desserts. $
2020 Geisenheimer
Varietal: GeisenheimerAlc.12%
A truly special wine, this variety is an unnamed German complex cross, bred by Helmut Becker at the Geisenheim Institute in 1957. It is grown by virtually no one else in the United States (as far as WPR knows). The winery bought their bud wood from Eckhard Kaesekamp of Euro Nurseries in Ontario in the ‘90s and maintained one row until they grafted more vines and expanded the block to 3 acres in 2016-2018. Heady floral aromas of roses, late-season golden apples and honey transition into citrusy flavors of lime and sweet spice. Dry and rich, yet with mild acidity.
Pair with sausages and sauerkraut. $
2019 Pinot Noir
Varietal: Pinot NoirAlc. 13%
A quick nosing will give you restrained fruit, oak, and sweet florals. Give your nose some time, and cherry liqueur and strawberry candy emerge as the dominating fruit contenders. Present is an aura of French oak. Delicate, lithe, hinting at baking spice but not prominent enough to get specific name recognition. Stay with the bouquet long enough and you will get a slightly salty, soy and forest floor note. First sip is plucky, immediately launching you into food fantasy. It is light in body with a tingle of pepper that edges out on the finish. Tannins flit away as the acidity brings on the palate cleansing, leaving behind silk. Mustard seed and black tea ride out on the finish. The fruit dominates but is always accompanied by French Oak and savory flavors.
Pairs well with lighter meat dishes, pasta with mushrooms, and leftover turkey.
2019 River Flatts Red
Varietals:80% Marquette, 20% Petite Pearl Alc. 13.5%
As the grape growing culture of Massachusetts matures, new hybrid grape varieties are being developed specifically for a North American climate, and Westport is at the forefront of these efforts. One grape variety they are having success with is Marquette. This hybrid grape, genetically a grandchild of Pinot Noir, has been bred to withstand cooler northern climates and disease pressures. River Flatts Red is a blend of Marquette with Petite Pearl, another recent hybrid that brings a splash of Italian personality to the wine. The result is a wine with a fruity nose, a touch of autumn leaves, citrus rind, and a lovely bouquet of spice (cardamom and nutmeg). The wine is full of bright red cherry and fresh blackberry fruit flavors. Medium bodied yet quite refreshing, it needs a few minutes to open up to its full potential, but once it does it is lively, fresh, and food friendly.
Pair with pizza, pasta with red sauce, and burgers.

WINES
Domaine François Chidaine Clos Habert, Loire Valley, France
Varietal: Chenin Blanc Alc.13%
After starting out on the family estate as a farm worker, François Chidaine decided in 1989 to settle down with a few hectares of vines in Montlouis-sur-Loire. From the beginning,François was interested in the cultivation of vines in organic farming, then in biodynamics. Domaine François Chidaine now covers 45 hectares.
The vines have been farmed organically since 1992 and biodynamically since 1999. The Clos Habert pours a beautiful pale gold. On the nose, notes of white fruit gradually reveal honeyed aromas. On the palate, there is a nice balance between elegant freshness and fleshy fruitiness.
Pairs well with lobster, creamy chicken dishes, pork, and Thanksgiving dinner! $39.99
The area around Verduno produces red wine. In fact, out of a total of approximately 200 hectares of vineyard, more than 95% are cultivated with red grapes. The predominant grape variety is Nebbiolo, which occupies more than half of the surface area. The other important and widespread varieties are Pelaverga Piccolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto. Located at the northern tip of the Barolo zone, Verduno is at an altitude of 200 to 400 meters above sea level. Fratelli Alessandria is one of the oldest wineries in the area, having already been operational around the middle of the 1800s.This unique wine is produced almost exclusively in the municipality of Verduno, from the rare native grape variety Pelaverga Piccolo. The wines that originate here are characterized by great finesse and elegance, aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, rosemary, flowers, and white pepper. Elegant and juicy, with light tannins, the wine has a remarkable aromatic complexity with an ever-present vein of spice and velvety tannins.
Can serve as an aperitif. Pairs well with grilled chicken or pork, and salumi. This is also a great lighter red for Thanksgiving. $24.99
Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py, Burgundy, France
Varietal: Gamay Alc.13%
Jean-Marc Burgaud founded his domaine in 1989. He has 19 hectares, 13 in Morgon, 5 in Beaujolais Villages, and 1 in Regnie. Jean-Marc has said that this is the maximum for him. While it’s possible to grow bigger, it’s important to stay precise. Using traditional methods of viticulture, eschewing the using of chemical fertilizers or insecticides, respecting the land, plowing the soil, and harvesting by hand, Jean-Marc does not care about being certified organic; he follows what needs to be done to grow the finest grapes. The 2021 Morgon Côte du Py offers up aromas of cherries, plums and berries mingled with notes of peony, burning embers, and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it is succulent with melting tannins, lively acids, and a long, precise finish.
Pairs well with roasted chicken, paté, and mushroom-based dishes. This is also a classic pairing for Thanksgiving if you would like a red wine. $23.99
Domaine de la Rectorie Collioure L’Oriental 2020, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Varietals: 90% Black Grenache, 10% Carignan Alc. 15.5%
An iconic Maison of the Collioure and Banyuls appellations, Domaine de la Rectorie was founded in 1984 by Pedro Soler, Thierry Parcé, Marc Parcé, Jules Campadieu, Jean-François Camou. The founders’ aim was not to put their name on a label but to advance the common work of making wine. Collioure L’Orientalis is a tribute to the varietal, Grenache. Aged for 11 months in barrels, this intense and rich wine develops beautifully complex aromas, ranging from olive and licorice to black fruit and pepper. Deep purple in color, the wine has a complex nose with aromas of black fruits and hints of spices and pepper. It is rich and dense on the palate, with a finish of black olive and licorice.
Pairs well with duck breast with figs, lamb tagine with prunes, and beef stew with black tapenade. $19.99
The grapes for this wine come from a plot that’s on a 100% gradient. That’s less a steep vineyard and more the face of a cliff! It takes hard work and single-minded dedication to work the vines in that terroir. This dedication motivates Heinz Welter of Weingut Später-Veit. Heinz, along with his wife, Silvia, and their sons Niklas and Eric, as they work 9 hectares of some of the finest plots in the vineyard of Goldtröpfchen (Golden Droplets). In 1988 Heinz took over the estate from Silvia’s father Theo Später. The estate takes its name from Silvia’s maiden name and that of her mother (Veit), and the Welters continue to work the vineyards in an old-school fashion. All work is done manually (there’s no way you could use machines on these slopes even if you wanted to), and no chemicals are used to treat the vines. Most notably, the fermentation is carried out with only the natural yeasts from the vineyard. On the nose, aromas of sweet honey and fresh fruit mingle with bitter-nutty pistachios and almonds. On the palate, tangy lime and a hint of local vineyard peaches is balanced by crisp acidity and a long finish. Pairs well with Asian food, Indian dishes, and pork schnitzel. $19.99
Quinta do Infantada Ruby Port, Douro, Portugal
Varietals: Touriga Franca,Tinta Roriz,Touriga Nacional Alc.19.5%
Quinta do Infantado was founded in 1816 in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro–considered its finest zone for both Port and dry wines. The Roseira family has owned it since the end of the 19th century. Today, Infantado is run by the third generation: João Roseira (winemaker and vineyard manager) and other family members, who oversee family holdings of about forty-six hectares of vines. Infantado evolved over the last fifty years into an outlier and innovator in a wine region ruled for centuries by large-scale production and full-blown commerce.
Until the 1970s, like most small growers, Infantado sold their wines off to large shippers. They then made the radical decision to go it alone, becoming the first estate to not sell or buy fruit or wine and to exclusively bottle estate-grown wines. Infantado owns exclusively A-grade sites, which is the Douro equivalent of having nothing but grand cru vineyards. Theirs are mainly the classic steep, terraced, old-vine parcels. The excellence of their material dictated not only their decision to go rogue and bottle estate wines, but also determined their choice of a rare house style: that of medium-dry rather than fully sweet Port. Most Port comes from average fruit of only modest ripeness that is quickly fermented and left with a lot of sugar, with just modest alcohol, never mind complexity, and thus a need for a large dose of brandy for fortification. Infantado harvests well-ripened, more complexly flavored fruit, which is fermented further, to a point of less sugar and more alcohol and a reduced need for fortification—thus their wines contain around thirty percent less brandy than a standard Port. While this is definitely a sweet wine it is not syrupy or jammy. The Ruby Port has lots of plum and berry fruit and is balanced with pleasant, structured acidity and tannins.
Drink after dinner on its own. Pairs well with dark chocolate or aged cheeses, particularly blues. $19.99

WINES
Albert Bichot Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Reserve, France
Domaines Albert Bichot has been a family business since 1831. Albéric Bichot, the fifth generation of the family, joined the company in the early 90s and took over its management in 1996. Though he fully respects family traditions, he is completely focused on the future. As well as expanding vinification capacity and the aging cellars, Albéric has also converted the vineyards to organic viticulture. The Cremant de Bourgogne shows fine, even bubbles in the glass. The nose has notes of citrus (lime, pink grapefruit) and white blossoms which pave the way for liveliness and freshness on the palate. It has a clean and precise finish with beautiful length.
Ideal as a festive aperitif. Pairs well with seafood, fish, and poultry in cream sauce. $21.99
In 1981, Susana Balbo graduated from university cum laude and became the first female enologist of Argentina. She built her reputation as a winemaker for 18 years working at various vineyards until, in 1999, she founded her own winery, achieving her lifelong dream. Susana is one of the most renowned figures of the wine scene, and she has helped to position Argentinian wines among the best in the world. In 2019 she was awarded the “BRAVO Lifetime Achievement” by the Organización de las Américas. Her White Blend is a very aromatic wine with floral and citrus notes combined with hints of fresh grass, white fruits, and orange. In the mouth, floral, fresh and fruity flavors are perfectly combined with the full mouthfeel. Its finish is mineral and persistent.
Pairs well with fish, Asian food, and food in spicy or hot sauces. $27.99
Since 1952 the House of Breban Wines (Vins Breban) has been producing and supplying a wide range of wines of varying styles and aromas to restaurants and retail distributors. Vins Breban brings to market each year more than 50 different wines, more than 8 million bottles in total of roses, whites, reds, stills and sparkling wines. Vins Breban vineyards stretch from the Sainte-Victoire mountain range in the west to the Haute Provence Alps in the east. The Domaine de Paris has a pale pink color. The nose is floral and powdery, with aromas of red fruits. In the mouth, the red fruits are followed by a clean finish.
Excellent as an aperitif. Pairs well with fish, chicken, and pork. $18.99
Domaine Maire et Fils Arbois Trousseau Aux Anes, Jura, France
Varietal: Trousseau Alc. 13.5%
Domaine Henri Maire has been nestled in the Jura, a wine region in eastern France between Burgundy in the east and Switzerland in the west, since 1632. For over 300 years, generations of Maires have made wine here, and the Domaine today encompasses 218 hectares. The Arbois AOC is the oldest and largest of the Jura’s four geographic AOCs; it was France’s first AOC, created in 1937. Trousseau is one of two native grape varieties grown in the Jura. Domaine Maire Arbois Trousseau pours an intense cherry red color. On the nose, aromas of small red fruits mix with woody and spicy notes. On the palate, spices and ripe fruit are balanced by
an elegant structure.
Pairs well with cured meats, grilled red meats, and duck breasts. $19.99
Tinto Pesquera Ribera del Duero, Spain
Varietal: Tempranillo Alc. 14.5%
Tinto Pesquera winemaker Alejandro Fernández put Ribera del Duero on the map – almost literally. In 1972 Fernández and Esperanza Rivera bought some land in the area and began making wine. By 1982, the wines of Alejandro Fernández, especially Tinto Pesquera, had made such an impression that the Designation of Origin Ribera del Duero was created. The Tinto Pesquera pours a lovely garnet hue. Red berry fruit notes, such as raspberries, along with balsamic hints, come through on the nose. On the palate, sweetness and attractive fruit character up front leads to balsamic and licorice notes followed by an elegant finish with touches of brioche coming through.
Pair with barbecued meat, roast lamb, and bellota ham. $34.99
Concha y Toro Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Valle Central, Chile
In 1883 Melchor Concha y Toro, a prominent Chilean lawyer, politician and businessman, decided to start making wine. He brought French vines from the Bordeaux region, invested in winemaking machinery, and built an underground vault to store his wines. Viña Concha y Toro was born. Almost 150 years later, Concha y Toro is a global brand. Gran Reserva Riberas Series Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the company’s vineyards located on the south bank of the Tinguiririca River, Marchigüe, at 180 meters above sea level. This Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of soft oak and red fruit on the nose. On the palate, light plum flavors mix with hints of oak and a touch of cinnamon. The finish is lively and balanced.
Pairs well with roasted lamb, pork, and beef with black pepper sauce. $19.99
And don’t forget to check out what’s new in our beer case. We have a malty Oktoberfest from the von Trapp brewery and the wonderfully dark but slightly hoppy Robust Porter from Smuttynose.
