WHAT: Join us this Saturday, August 14th for a special complimentary wine tasting with wine and food specialist Anthony Sciarappa.  Anthony will be pouring wines from Carolina’s Connoisseur Portfolio, representing: Sonoma CA, Languedoc-Roussillon, Fr., Italy-Piedmont, Washington St., Oregon… the occasion to taste juicy, fresh summer wines …6 expressive bottles that may be new to your palette.  As always, the tasting is elevated using our imported Riedel stemware.  

WHY:  The opportunity to introduce tasters to wines with wide-ranging qualities…prized grape varietals from ascending and classic wine regions,… the perfect occasion to experience summer-centric wines that pair beautifully with all manner of outdoor cooking.

WHO: For this tasting wine specialist, food specialist and chef Anthony Sciarappa together with Savor’s Kathleen Morgan, have selected wines of innovative vintners for sultry summer outdoor dining…fresh, lighter wines perfect for August.  

WHEN: This Saturday, August 14th, from 2p to 4pm at Savor

HOW: Saturday tastings are complimentary, as is parking behind the store with rear entrance.

SATURDAY’S POURINGS INCLUDE

Neyers Sonoma County, Carneros – Chardonnay
From the coolest region of Carneros, unoaked, crisp, citrusy, and dry, reminiscent of fine Chablis. Great food wine.  Pairs well with oysters and cherrystone clams on the half shell.

   Domaine de Fontaine Gris de Gris Rose
From Kermit Lynch, Corbières, France, 90% Grenache Gris, 5% Carignan, 5% Mouvèdre, full-bodies and lush, brimming with strawberry summer fruit, but dry and crisp.  Pairs well with shrimp cocktail and salad Niçoise.

                                       Cantine Valpane Pietra Rosso Barber

Piedmont, Italy, 85% Barbera, 15% Fresia, all natural with indigenous yeast, unfiltered, fermented in concrete tanks with no oak, bright fruit, clean, summer red. Pairs well with
Spaghetti Marinara.

 Colene Clemens Dopp Creek Pinot Noir


From a small family-owned winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, “clean, balanced, and well-structured, with a core of bright raspberry and boysenberry fruit, and a round mouthfeel.”  Pairs well with grilled Salmon, Artic Char, and mushroom tart.

                                        Hedges CMS Cabernet Sauvignon
Washington State, 76% Cabernet, 16% Syrah, 8% Merlot, barrel-aged in neutral French and American oak, “Cassis, black-pepper, fig, and cinnamon bark,” will age 5-10 years but drinking exquisitely now.  Pairs well with arugula, roast beef, and blue cheese salad.
