 WINES

Spineto Maremma Toscano Bianco 2021, Tuscany, Italy

Varietal: VermentinoAlc.13.5%

Maremma, in Southern Tuscany, ishome to rolling hills of olive groves, vineyards, forests, fields of poppies and cornflowers, fishing ports, and of course, the stellar Sangiovese red grape. It’s not just red wines, though, that come from this region. Be ready to be amazed by its white wines such as this made from the unique Vermentino grape. Erik Banti has been producing wines in the Maremma Toscanaregion in the south-west of Tuscany for decades. With a love and passion for native Italian and classic French grapes, he has created his Spineto. Herbal aromas leap from the glass and draw you into flavors of peach, citrus, and a hint of apple on the structured finish.

Pairs well with shellfish, baked or grilled fish, and pasta with clams. $ 14.99

Gerard Fiou Sancerre Terroir Silex 2021, Loire, France

Varietal: Alc.13%

Marked by its charming hilltop village in the easternmost territory of the Loire, Sancerre is famous for its vivacious, citrus-dominant Sauvignon blanc. Variations in topography—rolling hills and steep slopes from about 600 to 1,300 feet in elevation—with great soil variations, contribute to the variations in character in Sancerre Sauvignon blancs. Flint (silex) soils close to the village of Sancerre produce particularly perfumed and age-worthy wines. Domaine Gerard Fiou is a family Estate created several generations ago by Gerard Fiou’s ancestors. Since taking over, Gerard Fiou has been developing his property by taking care to limit the yield of his vineyard and to respect the ecosystem of the grounds moving toward biodynamic methods. The 2021 Sancerre Blanc, Terroir Silex, opens with a clear and elegant, very aromatic yet refined bouquet with aromas of white and yellow tropical fruits (passion fruit) as well as a hint of cassis, fresh nettles, and crushed flint stones. Medium-bodied and with clear, well-defined fruit, this is an elegant, stimulating, and fruity Sancerre that finishes with tart grapefruit and lime bitters and ripe but refreshing, perfectly integrated acidity.

Pairs well with shellfish and spring salads. $ 29.99

Octopoda 2021 Sonoma County Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, California

Varietal: Chardonnay Alc.14.5%

Precision Wine Co. presents a distinguished and diverse collection of wines. Each wine is made with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality; from harvesting the grapes in the vineyards to designing original packaging, every step of the winemaking process is handled with precision. The wines are made to showcase the complexity of flavor, diversity of terroir, and distinct characteristics of California’s appellations and wine regions. Proprietor and vintner Trevor Sheehan started his journey to create a top wine collection when he became a winemaker 10 years ago. His first wines were eight barrels of Chardonnay from the Beckstoffer Vineyard and Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain. Octopoda Chardonnay offers notes of white flowers, grapefruit, baked apples, buttered popcorn and a beautiful toasted oak finish.

Pairs well with creamy cow and sheep-milk cheese, pan-seared salmon, and roast chicken. $19 .99

Reserve de Bonpas Côtes-du-Rhone 2020, France

Varietal: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, CarignanAlc.13%

Located near Avignon, at the heart of the Rhone Valley, the fortified stronghold of Bonpas has watched over the safe crossing of the Durance River along the historic route that once linked Rome with Avignon. The estate marks the gateway to the southern Côtes-du-Rhône appellations. Its sophisticated, elegant wines embody the terroirs and varietals of this famous region through their power and fruitiness.Typically thought of as a baby Chateâuneuf-du-Pape, the term Côtes-du-Rhône actually doesn’t merely apply to the flatter outskirts of the major southern Rhône appellations, it also includes the fringes of well-respected northern Rhône appellations. The region offers some of the best values in France and even some first-rate and age-worthy reds. Red wine varieties include most of the Chateâuneuf-du-Pape varieties like Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Counoise, as well as Carignan. The Bonpas Côtes-du-Rhône pours a deep ruby red. The nose is expressive, with notes of fresh red fruit. On the palate, it is a warm, powerful wine combining flavors of mild spices, black olives, and stone fruits. Ample and supple, with velvety tannins.

Pairs well with grilled meats and fresh goat’s cheeses. $14 .99

I Veroni Quona Chianti Rufino 2018,

Varietal: Sangiovese Alc.15%

In the Middle Ages the vineyard and farmland of I Veroni formed part of the extensive feudal estates in the Arno valley of the Conti Guidi family. The present farm buildings are a blend of centuries-old structures and contemporary additions. The first stone wine fermentation tank was built in 1809. Parts of this are still visible in the original cellars. The estate passed from the Guidi family to the Modigliani di Rufina family in the early 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century it was bought by Carlo Malesci, whose family still owns it today. The name I Veroni is derived from the wide terraces surrounding the farm where many years ago tobacco leaf and grain from the Arno valley was dried. Today I Veroni is a specialized, certified organic winery, located in the Chianti Rùfina area about 10 km from the city of Florence. The vineyards cover 15 hectares and 20 hectares are planted with olives. Three clones of Sangiovese planted in the late 1990s make up this superb family estate Riserva. Tile red in color, the nose is redolent of forest floor, earthy notes of leather and tobacco leaf, smoked meats, and dried black fruits. The palate is ripe and piquant, with berry fruit, sour cherry and plum notes, along with chocolate tannins, savory spices like nutmeg and clove, cedar, and black pepper. It’s beautifully balanced, retaining a refinement and elegance despite its big structure.

Pairs well with cured meats, a prime rib roast, and pasta with meaty tomato-based sauce.$ 27.99

Dead Canyon Ranch Red Blend 2017, Horse Heaven Hill, Washington

Varietals: 50% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 8% Malbec, 3%, Petit Verdot, 2% Mourvedre Alc. 14%

For over 125 years, Mercers have been stewards of the same land in Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills. In 1972, they planted the first wine grapes in the acclaimed Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Now, their vineyards span 12,000acres along the Columbia River. Dead Canyon Vineyard bears the name of the topographical landmark on which it resides. Grapes are planted along both canyon edges, about three miles south of the original Mercer family farmstead. The site has two distinct aspects because it is planted on both canyon edges, and thus has both a north and south face. The Dead Canyon Ranch Red Blend has aromas of blackberries and blueberries explode from the glass with notes of plums, currants, cherries along with hints of smoke and vanilla. The Cabernet really adds some backbone, and the wine finishes smooth with fine round tannins, great mouthfeel and a long velvety finish that seems to last for minutes.

Pairs well with grilled beef or pork, short ribs and meaty stews. $17.99
