Gloucester at the Boston Globe Travel Show

Discover Gloucester made a splash at the Boston Globe Travel Show, letting potential visitors from all around the state (and beyond) in on what makes Gloucester a tourism destination.

In addition to the booth, which featured fifteen local businesses, Chef Ryder Richie of Latitude 43 drew crowds to the show’s culinary stage for a discussion and cooking demonstration focused on Gloucester-landed seafood.

In the words of the Boston Globe Travel Show’s Chef Duda (of A&E’s Well Seasoned Traveler), “Chef Ryder’s presentation was Four Stars….one of the best of the show.”

Joey Ciaramitaro's avatarGood Morning Gloucester

Grover and his wife Cindy ran the Cupboard and had countless friends and if you grew up in Gloucester you were touched by the “Cupboard Experience” that they created and maintained all these years.

This forwarded by John Nelson –
Hi Joey:
I wanted to pass along the attached obit for Grover Hudson Carter. This wonderful man ran The Cupboard on Tolman Ave for years and passed away in Georgia this past weekend. I grew up across the street from you Grandmother and can’t count the number of cones, burgers and goodies Grover supplied. For a few years in the late 60’s/ early 70’s, Grover and Cindy held an end-of-year, Tolman Ave ‘block party’ as they closed up The Cupboard for the season; a great pick-me-up for a young lad bummed because summer was over and school had started up. He helped make my childhood in Stage Fort Park memorable…

Attention all Gloucester Tourism businesses!

MUG UP this Wednesday 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Latitude 43

This is a very exciting time for Gloucester and its position as a travel destination. Yes, we have had many groups, and individuals, working tirelessly for years to further Gloucester’s place in the tourism industry, but this is the first time we’ve had a City of Gloucester- backed DMO (Destination Marketing Organization).

Why is this so exciting and important? Residents can find out about the new Gloucester Tourism Alliance, Inc. d/b/a  Discover Gloucester at the “Mug Up” on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Latitude 43. Where the board and local community leaders will explain how they’ve come together to form this new organization and what it means for Gloucester Tourism.

This Mug Up is a great opportunity for local business owners and community members to meet with the new board, share ideas and learn about upcoming  marketing opportunities. This is also an opportunity to discuss how local tourism advocates can work with the new Discover Gloucester Board to promote their businesses and organizations to potential visitors. Complimentary appetizers will be served along with a cash bar.  Please be sure to attend and to RSVP to Carol Thistle cthistle@gloucester-ma.gov, 978-282-8027.
